Choose today to react to tough circumstances in your marriage in loving ways instead of with irritation. Begin by making a list of areas where you need to add margin to your schedule. Then list any wrong motivations that you need to release from your life.
He who is slow to anger is better than the mighty, and he who rules his spirit, than he who captures a city. -Proverbs 16:32

This is funny, because I have actually decided this year to work on this issue before I began The Love Dare. My list of things that need improvements in my schedule are 1. Volunteering 2. Internet use 3. Cleaning the house 4. Our business, Jackson Lawn 5. Church
ReplyDelete1. Ok, volunteering, I have cut WAY back to practically nothing. The time and energy I put into my volunteer work at Holy Trinity was wonderful, but my home life and family were put on the back burner and our business, well, it was just put off. HA! So, I don't volunteer anymore at the kids schools besides the class parties. I am living the life of a college student with kids, a home, a business and a marriage. Something had to give. 2. The internet. This still has room for improvement, but I am working hard on it. I have stopped staying up on the internet past Lance going to bed and I am going to bed with Lance which is nice. 3. Cleaning the house, I have decided to stop being so anal and M-F this house is not going to be perfect, and that is OK. Studying for a test or working in the office for Lance is more important than my bed being made or Cash's toys off the den floor. Now, I have been keeping the center of the house clean at all times, the kicthen, and it has made a huge impact and makes it easier for Lance or Taylor to help clean up or load the dishwasher for me. 4. Our business. This one needs THE MOST margin change. I have to get Nanny 911 on this subject and hang office hours for me to follow and know that is what I do. If I can attend Bible Study, playdates, MNO's, church and more, I can hold and keep a standing time to work in our home office. I will blog about this subject more at another time. 5. Church. Ok, this one I am most proud of my family about. We have been attending church every Sunday since the first of January (minus one) and Lance has missed a few times due to a stopped up septic line and just sleeping in one Sunday (which he deserved) and I loaded the kids up and went anyway! That is unlike me! Anyway, we are also attending First Baptist Crosby and I am shockingly very happy, it is full of couples our age, give or take, and has lots of activities for the kids and adults. I am tired of running away from Crosby all the time. This is where I flipping live. I am going to do things in Crosby and make them work. I also want my children to go to church with their friends from school. I guess my feeling on this stems from Tay going to a private school and having no one live near her and she always hated that. So, I am putting it in God's hands and I am remembering that no church is perfect, if you are looking for perfect you are going to never find it. My husband and children love it and so do I. Who knows if we will join or not, but my heart feels so warm knowing I just got off my butt and said we are going. It has been so easy for us to go and spend the day together. ;o)
