Day 1 of "The Love Dare" The first part of this dare is fairly simple. Although love is communicated in a number of ways, our worlds often reflect the condition of our heart. For the next day, resolve to demonstrate patience and to say nothing negative to your spouse at all. If the temptation arises, choose not to say anything. It's better to hold your tounge than to say something you'll regret. Stephen and Alex Kendrick w/Lawrence Kimbrough.
Ok, Lance and I just started this and so far so good! He is gone to work, so pretty good so far like I said! HA! This is a tough one for me because I bark a lot and I need to stop and respect Lance more and show him the respect he so deserves under his own roof. "Fireproof" struck a chord with me in one scene when Caleb says "I get more respect from everyone else, I am a hero to people but in my own home I am nothing" (he said something like that!) I am going to work one ME the next 40 days, not Lance. Lance and I are not going through a divorce, or even close to any kind of problems but I believe all marriages have room for improvement and we are far from perfect! So, I am going on this 40 day journey. We will see! HA!
Be completely humble and gentke; be patient, bearing with one another in love. Ephesians 4:2 NIV
Rugs I Love & Others I Don’t

It took me almost 20 years and 12 houses before I believed in the power of
a large rug. Before that I thought rugs were just decor or just something

ReplyDeleteGood luck on your journey. I want to start one when Cory gets back home.
ReplyDeleteWell, I am about to explode! Day one almost finished with a rocky blow! I was at my desk, Lance was athis desk and Taylor was looking at my scrapbooks. Cash kept punching me and I kept saying, "stop", then I got louder, "STOP" and then he punched Taylor and she screams "STOOOOOPPPP" and Lance FLIPS out! He screams at her to never yell in his ear again like that and punches the desk! (not breaking anything, I just mean he was mad because he was checking his work emails and yes, we were being loud and annoying) well, instead of shoveling the kids out of there quietly, punishing Cash for punches us all in the first place, i FLIPPED OUT on Lance! Yelling for him to never talk to Taylor like that again! Well, I am calm, get the kids doing something else and about ten minutes later Taylor is screaming at Cash! I run in the bedroom, flip out on her and yell for her to stop yelling (see how this makes no sense) and she goes off in her room crying! Ok, so now everyone in the house has yelled except Cash who is skipping off to his bedroom minding his own business! Now, Lance is in the den, Cash is in the sunroom, Tay is in her room and I am in the office! What a night! Well, I am not giving up, I am calm now, will continue to be nice to Lance and begin day 2 tomorrow morning! "this too shall pass".
ReplyDeletestay the course julie! it's really easy to have moments like that- i do too. praying that today is easier and rewarding.
ReplyDeleteI forgot to add how God rewarded me, some may not see this a reward, but I do! Last night Lance was standing in the kitchen and I could tell he was so tired and suddenly he says "oh man, I am out of snuff (copenhagen)". He says, "I guess I will run to the store". I quickly said, "Hey, I will go, I have my shoes on and you don't, I will be right back". He goes on and on how thankful he was and I leave. Well, I am standing at the gas station to check out and I see a Weekly Grand scratch off. Well, we used to buy these all the time when we were younger, before the kids were born. Once in a blue moon I will buy Taylor one and she likes to try to win a couple of bucks. Well, I bought 2 for $4 total. Can you believe I won $20 on one and $40 on the other? WOOHOO! I am SO glad I did something nice for Lance! HA!
